Landscape Lighting in Willow Creek Ranch in Tomball, TX

Firefly Nightscapes recently completed an expansive landscape lighting project at Willow Creek Ranch in Tomball, Texas, featuring a total of 43 custom lighting fixtures throughout the property. While landscape lighting is often thought of as simple uplights placed around trees and pathway lights along walkways, this project required a much more creative and technical approach. The goal was to integrate the lighting seamlessly into the landscape and architecture while creating depth, dimension, and a dramatic nighttime atmosphere.

Of the 43 fixtures installed, only 10 were traditional landscape lighting fixtures. The remaining 33 fixtures required specialized installation methods, including fixtures suspended from tree branches, mounted directly within trees, attached beneath the home’s soffits, and installed in recessed wells flush with the ground. The in-ground fixtures were carefully positioned so they could remain virtually invisible during the day while still providing beautiful illumination at night—and allowing the grass to be mowed right over them.

The result is a sophisticated lighting design that highlights the property’s mature trees, architecture, and outdoor spaces without making the fixtures themselves the focus. This Willow Creek Ranch project is a great example of how thoughtful landscape lighting can go far beyond standard path lights and uplights, using creative fixture placement and installation techniques to transform a large property after dark.
